What is the difference between PrimaRx’s coupons and discount cards?
We display discount codes. The codes come in the form of coupons or cards. They both have the same result at the pharmacy. To get the best codes for your medications, we suggest always searching prices before filling medications. We use these terms interchangeably.
Is this an insurance program?
PrimaRx is not insurance, but is a discount program for prescription drugs. Based on customer feedback, PrimaRx’s prices may be lower than insurance. We recommend always comparing your insurance price against the prices displayed on PrimaRx.
If I have insurance, how can I use PrimaRx?
Your health insurance’s prices may be different from those shown on our comparison tool. PrimaRx recommends always comparing your health insurance price against what is displayed by PrimaRx, especially if you have a high deductible plan or if your drug is not on your insurance drug formulary list. Simply ask the pharmacist to check the price using your insurance and the PrimaRx discount codes to see which one is best for your purchase.
What are the benefits of using PrimaRx?
PrimaRx offers a way for consumers to compare discounted prescription drug prices at nearby pharmacies. Any consumer can use the discounts provided by PrimaRx, regardless of insurance status. PrimaRx is not insurance, but provides a way for consumers to access discounted medication prices. There is no registration or membership required to access these discounts – simply show the coupon at the pharmacy to receive our lowest price. The price PrimaRx displays is the price you pay at the pharmacy counter.
Can I get discounts for brand and generic drugs?
Yes. Many name brand drugs have generic alternatives. When a generic is available, PrimaRx first displays the prices for the generic drug. To change between generic and brand name prices, simply click the tab on the price results page. Many generic drugs can be purchased for $4 or $10 at Walmart with cash discount pricing. Special pharmacy price lists are also included to help you find the lowest possible price.
Which pharmacies honor the PrimaRx card?
PrimaRx is honored at pharmacies nationwide, including most: CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Costco, Walmart and Target (CVS). Also included are most regional grocery store chains like: Kroger, Safeway, Fred Meyer, Giant, HEB, Wegmans, and many more. You do not need to enroll in the store’s savings clubs or use their in-house discount programs to use PrimaRx. The PrimaRx card or app is all you need to get the PrimaRx discount price. The pharmacy must enter the codes from the PrimaRx app or discount card to receive your discount.
Is PrimaRx free?
There is a subscription or registration fee required to use PrimaRx. The price of PrimaRx is included when you are enrolled as a member of PrimaHealth’s Individual or Family Plans. PrimaRx displays prices available at participating pharmacies. The price you see is the price you pay. PrimaRx may receive a transaction fee in connection with the program, however, any such fee is included in the price displayed by the app or website. You are responsible for full payment of the medication at time of purchase.
Do I need to register or sign up for PrimaRx?
Yes. PrimaRx does require enrollment and registration is a PrimaHealth Individual or Family Plan to use the PrimaRx website, apps or obtain discount cards.
Do I need an PrimaRx card?
If you use the PrimaRx mobile app or mobile website, just show the digital discount card to your pharmacist at time of purchase. This is the best way to get the most current lowest price. You can also print a card from our website.
Can I share my coupon or discount card with others?
We believe in sharing. The card is not personalized to you. Feel free to share with your family, friends and coworkers.
Why did the price for my prescription recently change?
Prescription prices fluctuate on occasion. We are constantly looking for the lowest price and will do our best to provide you with the lowest price in your area.
I have Medicare Part D. Can I still use PrimaRx?
PrimaRx may only be used outside of your Part D plan benefit. If the PrimaRx price is lower than the amount you would pay under your Part D plan, you may use PrimaRx instead of your Part D benefit. If you do, your purchase will not apply toward your Medicare deductible or true out of pocket (TrOOP) costs. You should consider if this is important to your individual situation.
Do I need to bring the PrimaRx card to the pharmacy every single time?
Yes. The pharmacy may keep the card on file, but the discount codes change from time-to-time so it is always best to provide current discount codes to the pharmacy at each visit.
Is the price PrimaRx displays the price I will pay at the pharmacy?
Yes. The price you see on PrimaRx is the price you will pay at a participating pharmacy. To get the PrimaRx price, the pharmacy must enter the codes from the app or coupon
Is PrimaRx a pharmacy?
PrimaRx is not a pharmacy and we do not actually fill prescriptions. We do however help you find the lowest price for a prescription at a pharmacy near you.
The pharmacist didn’t accept my coupon. What can I do?
Although we have contracted with each pharmacy showing in the PrimaRx tool, they do have the final say on accepting our coupons. Our goal is to make sure pharmacies are paid timely and appropriately while getting you the best deal. If they don’t match the prices shown you can choose to purchase at their price or try another pharmacy.
Do I need a sponsor code for the lowest prices?
No. However, if you were given one, please enter it when you first use the website or app. You will only need to enter it one time. The sponsor code helps us support your sponsoring organization.
Why do I need the PrimaRx coupons?
PrimaRx’s coupons can save you money every time you pick up a prescription. You can print a coupon or card from your computer or show it from your smartphone, if you have downloaded the PrimaRx app. Showing our coupons or discount cards to the pharmacy is required to get PrimaRx’s discounted prices. Even if you have another insurance card, you may be able to get a better price using PrimaRx, so always show it when purchasing a prescription.
What if my drug or dosage is not found?
PrimaRx shows prices for all FDA approved prescription drugs. If your drug is not found, check the spelling or expand the radius search for a pharmacy near you. You can still request a card and take it to a pharmacy in your area to receive a discounted price.
What if the pharmacy doesn’t provide the price listed?
First, check to make sure the quantity and dose are correct. The search tool defaults to the most common quantities and doses for a given medication. However, if the quantity and dose are correct there may be a slight difference due to price changes. Our prices are updated frequently and may be slightly different at the time of purchase. Using the discount codes will still result in a discount.
Can I receive a refund for my medication?
If you need to return a prescription, that must be done in accordance with the pharmacy’s refund process and policies. Any fees that the pharmacy collected for PrimaRx should be included in your refund. We do not charge any fees for processing refunds as it is a matter between you and the pharmacy.
Will PrimaRx’s discounts count toward my deductible?
Every Insurance company has a different policy regarding deductibles. Please check with your insurance company directly.
What is the source for savings claims made by PrimaRx?
Savings claims on our website are from actual user statements. PrimaRx’s cost savings data are based on multiple sources, including published price lists, purchases, claims records, and data provided by pharmacies.
Is PrimaRx insurance?
PrimaRx provides discount coupons at participating pharmacies. It is not an insurance policy.
What fees do I pay to use PrimaRx?
There is a membership or enrollment fee to use PrimaRx. Once you are a PrimaHealth Plan member you can compare medication prices at various pharmacies using our website and mobile app for no charge. We also provide discount coupons you can use to get discounted prices at the pharmacies we show. Some coupons include a transaction fee to PrimaRx, which is already included in the price we show, which is the price you get at the time of purchase. We keep transaction fees low to help you get the lowest prices possible. We never require pre-payment to use our service. The only fees we collect are those included in the price of the medication we display, which you pay at the pharmacy. Our goal is to help you get the lowest price possible, so you can better afford your medications.
Does PrimaRxSaver require enrollment?
RxSaver is a membership program and is included when you purchase a PrimaHealth Individual or Family Plan.
What happens if I need to return a prescription?
